Tips and Tricks:

PNG vs JPEG Images

Starting Out

Well, here's a little bit about myself. I'm the webmaster of this site and so all comments can be directed at me. Believe me, I take everything I'm told with a grain of salt so it's safe to say I won't be upset by flames. I've read the manga and I've seen all the episodes and movies for Card Captor Sakura. So I consider myself an expert and even an authority on Card Captor Sakura. In fact, if you happen to have any questions about the series, please direct them to me and I'll be glad to answer. I figure, someday I'll make a site about it, but then again, there are a lot of sites that do a pretty good job, so I might just stick to reviewing.

I'd like to believe that I spend a greater than average amount of time surfing about on the net. Especially during my summers. Thus, I look at a wide variety of Card Captor Sakura sites that range from phenomenal to "get this thing off the net!"

As aged anime viewers know, whenever there's a new series imported to the US, a huge amount of websites spring up which end up diluting the pool of good sites to choose from. Don't get me wrong, there are still good sites, but now, they're just a whole lot harder to find.

And somehow, somewhere in the phenomenon of Pokemon sprang up a ton of sites that were just in it for the money. Now I realize many of us do live in and grew up in capitalist countries (myself included -- GO USA!), but this still does not explain to me how a 14 year old who's never seen the anime somehow believes he's the know it all because he has a site that gets "a lot of hits." Perhaps the worst thing that goes with this is the blatant ripping off of other sites (yes I have read Moonbrat's plight -- one of the reasons I was almost afraid to set up this website). Plagiarism is grounds for expulsion where I go to school and can get you sued in real life. So why venture the risk? Out of sheer laziness? How can anyone think it's okay to profit off of other people's work? While we may be a capitalist society, society at least demands some kind of work ethic. ^_^

Here's a list of things I dislike that will automatically make me upset with your site. And granted, while this is my opinion, I do represent a majority of web viewers.

First off, let me tell you about my computer.
It connects to the internet at high speeds, and processes a ton of things at a time (that means I have a P3 processor and 128 MB RAM and DSL). I don't like NS. Not enough people use it in my opinion to justify making your site NS compatible. In fact, why won't NS just make itself compatible and stop giving web designers such a hard time!? Okay, anyhow. I use a 1024x768 screen and a 20" monitor. I make all my stuff to look good on my computer. But I guess I can't account for how it looks on yours though I do run tests.

And here are some things you should avoid when making a site:

1. *.PNG --- How the heck did this trend take place? I realize many people have fast connections to the internet, but why would you purposefully increase the load time of your site? I vary between DSL and 56K modem, but I can tell you, I appreciate the site that use .JPEG and .GIF images. Regardless of how good the images you made are, they are not worthy of .PNG if you plan to use them on every page.

2. Plagiarism --- Well, that shouldn't be hard to understand, but unfortunately there are too many sites who think its okay. Just because a site is hosting you doesn't mean it's okay to use all the exact same information. Why would anyone want to visit your site if they can see it elsewhere? Have some originality. And morals -_-

3. Pop-ups --- I don't mean in your site design (although those can get annoying). What I'm referring to are those GD ads. You know what I'm talking about. That and those, "Vote for my site." If you pop anything up at me, you can guarantee to one hundred percent that I will not vote for your
site.

Hey... It's the three P's!
